About founder, Ashley Burk:

Ashley is a coffee professional with 10 years of experience. Having worked in a myriad of specialty coffee establishments in New Jersey and Philadelphia. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Ashley’s experience draws inspiration from meals and beverages enjoyed while traveling and a heavy dose of childhood nostalgia. While coffee is ultimately where her career landed her, she spent most of her notable time in the creative realm as a sign painter, fiber artist, and instructor under the name Steady Hand Creative . It is through this work that Ashley learned that her ultimate goal was to use her culinary background and creative experience to create a space where coffee can become the art medium for exploring new, exciting, and playful drink offerings. She strives to help customers reconnect with a part inside all of us that is full of awe and curiosity while also continuing to be a platform for the creative community she was once a part of through hosting workshops, featuring locally made wares, and hosting events that allow the local community to meet and interact with their local creatives.

About Steady Hand Cafe + Collective:

Steady Hand Cafe & Collective is to be a cafe where customers come to enjoy deliciously playful coffee drinks, shop locally made wares, and take part in community-driven workshops taught by local artists. Our drinks are inspired by memories, meals, and drink experiences that live inside all of us forever.  Steady Hand Cafe & Collective is intended to excite the inner child in all of us. Our drinks are made using house-made syrups crafted with real organic ingredients, and our coffee itself is grown by women-owned coffee farmers and farming co-ops. The "collective" portion of our mission is focused on being a hub for our local creative community. We plan to establish a rotating collection of retailers and designers (pottery, textiles, jewelry, housewares...so on) that can be shopped while customers are enjoying their coffee. This also gives the local artists an opportunity to do pop-up markets where they can meet their customers and make real connections with their community.
